Emily Brinkman, RD, LD
Team Nutrition Project Director

"Welcome to the Kansas Team Nutrition Website! I joined the staff of the Kansas State Department of Education in March 2011. Currently, I serve as the Team Nutrition Project Director and Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program Coordinator. I enjoy working with schools to find ways to incorporate nutrition education and physical activity into the regular school day!

I am originally from Paola, KS and am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. I received a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2004 from Kansas State University. While working in Research & Development of a food production company, I discovered my passion for nutrition and nutrition education, so returned to K-State to pursue additional degrees in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition, graduating in 2009. Before joining the Child Nutrition & Wellness Team, I worked as a Nutrition Services Manager for a long-term care facility in Topeka. I look forward to working with your school to help teach Kansas children to 'Eat Smart and Play Hard'!"

Tessa Adcock

Tessa Adcock, MS, RD
Team Nutrition Project Director

"Life is about good nutrition! My name is Tessa Adcock and I am working with the Child Nutrition & Wellness team as a Team Nutrition Project Director. Helping find creative ways to reach children with healthy nutrition messages is my goal!

My passion for food and nutrition has taken me on an exciting journey. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Grinnell College and an Associates degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America. After working in fine dining for a few years, my discovery of school nutrition and the possibility of serving such an important population lead me back to school pursuing a Master’s in Nutrition Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Now as a Registered Dietitian, I am in the best possible position to help ensure that Kansas children are receiving nutrition education and physical activity opportunities. Most recently before joining the Child Nutrition & Wellness Team, I worked as a school district Food Service Director. Go Team Nutrition!"
