Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program for Secondary Schools (FFVP-SS)
As part of the Fiscal Year 2012 Team Nutrition Training Grant, the Child Nutrition & Wellness Division of Kansas State Department of Education is offering a modified version of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program specifically for secondary students (FFVP-SS). This opportunity is made possible through a Team Nutrition collaboration between the Kansas Health Foundation and Kansas State University – College of Human Ecology.
Funding for 25,000 students at $4 per student is being made available through a competitive application process to secondary schools and classrooms (grades 6-12) that participate in the National School Lunch Program and are enrolled as a Team Nutrition school. Schools and classrooms applying for the FFVP-SS will commit to serving a total of eight tastings, four fruits and four vegetables, over four consecutive weeks as well as administering a short pre and post impact assessment survey to participating students.
